My passion lies within theatre as a whole: from the concept of a script to the production values and design to the calling and execution of cues and everyone involved. Stage management allows me to participate in the moments of theatre that unite all these facets. A stage manager has the honor of working with nearly every person involved in a production. These various kinds of people are what makes the world of theatre such a fun and exciting place, and I have the utmost respect for them all.

My mentors have often told me that my biggest flaw is my inability to say “no.” Always eager to participate in a theatre project or help with another, I give each production my full attention and effort. My dedication to productions coexists with my passions. I cannot stop working until a task is complete. With responsibilities to multiple projects, it is very important to be organized and to have priorities. As an enthusiastic learner and a hard worker, I am always seeking ways to become more effective at my job. I have earned the respect of my peers by giving them the respect they deserve. Contrary to popular belief, there is no law stating that stage managers must be mean to get the job done.

I have worked in many different kinds of theatres in my career. From the high school multipurpose room to the Skidmore College theatre to Broadway, I have encountered various levels of professionalism. During my career, I have worked in New York City with some of Broadway’s finest stage managers and have gained a great deal of knowledge from their expertise. I wish to continue learning from great stage managers, understanding the high standards required of such positions and the various needs of the other people involved.

In the next few years, I hope to establish myself in the performing arts world as a dedicated and apt stage manager. I would like to begin by forming a strong professional foundation somewhere where I can learn more and improve my skills. In the years following, my goal to move to a larger city where more opportunities are available but where more risks might be necessary to achieve these opportunities. There I would hope to make a new home for myself and establish a satisfying career.
